This is the Package Redesign project for Graphic Design II class. The goal for the assignment was to choose any product such as cereal, cookies, crackers etc. and redesign the package completely. I picked Pepperidge Farm's Montauk milk chocolate cookies. I decided to redesign the package into a classic cookie box. We also had to pick an art movement to base our redesign on. In this case, I went for the Surrealist art movement. Original Pepperidge Farm Soft Baked Montauk Milk Chocolate cookies come in a white paper bag package with foil lining on the inside to retain freshness. Redesign objective would make it so that the packaging has a resealable feature. There are eight cookies in total and they can be individually wrapped in a box. The redesign would be to a limited-edition version of the package, inspired by the Surrealist movement. The cookies are advertised as “soft and chewy”, and packaging will emphasize on that. It will have images of the cookies resembling Salvador Dali’s “persistence of memory” melting clocks. Instead of the clocks, it will be a melt in your mouth chewy cookie. The packaging will appear more vibrant, and attractive. Target audience would be all ages. Surreal at will give it a bit of a whimsical look, grabbing the attention of younger people, while older people can recognize the inspiration from the famous painting.
