"Felix Kjellberg"

This was for the Editorial Portrait project for my Digital Illustration class. The project required me to create a digital portrait of a key figure who has overcome a challenge, achieved something great, or has done commendable acts. The portrait was to be an editorial image, which could be used for a magazine, such as Time Magazine. I picked a YouTuber who has overcome many challenges to get where he has gotten, and who has also made great contributions to many different charities. The person I selected was Felix Kjellberg, or most recognized as “Pewdiepie” on the internet. Felix is a very well-known internet personality, comedian, and videogame commentator. To create the image of the person, I had heavy use shapes to show the lights and darks to achieve the overall illusion of depth in the picture. The background is the pattern he uses for his gaming line. It is the same pattern as his headphones, which I wanted to be clearly seen in the portrait. However, I did not want the headphones to be lost within the background since they are the same pattern, so I used the wavy black lines in the pattern to be easily distinguishable so that the headphones can be clearly visible. In the background, there is also the Red play button, which is awarded to the creators who have reached 100 million subscribers on YouTube.
